Food Review : T-Buds Tea Lounge & Creperie

T-Buds is a place to unwind and experience a fusion of fine foods and selected teas from all around the globe. We decided to make a trip here for my Mom’s birthday, as she absolutely loves high tea! It was a lovely “Ladies Day Out” with my Mom, Sister and me.

For the Afternoon Tea Service, my Mom decided to go with the “Classic Afternoon Tea” menu ($28 per person from Tuesday to Friday) that included :

* Warm Quiche & Seasonal Canape
* Six Assorted Tea Sandwiches
* Two Freshly Baked Scones
* Creme Mascarpone & Jam
* Two Petit Desserts & Fresh Fruit
* One Pot of Tea of Choice
* One Flute of T-Buds Signature Sparkling Tea

My sister opted for the “Savoury Cream Tea” menu ($18 per person from Tuesday to Friday), which is similar to the above special, minus the quiche, seasonal canape, two petit desserts & the sparkling tea.

Among the abundance of choices, I chose the Organic Green Flavoured Pear-Apple Tea. Includes unlimited refills of hot water and the staff steep the tea for you before they serve it.

Warm quiche & seasonal canape, which included brie cheese and pomegranate.

Creme Mascarpone, Raspberry Jam & Two Petit Desserts (Shortbread Tart with Lemon Curd & Meringue / French Macaron).

Two Freshly Baked Scones & Fresh Fruit.

The finger tea sandwiches included :
* Cucumber & Watercress with Cream Cheese & Chives
* Egg Salad with Alfalfa Sprouts
* Smoked Salmon with Dill Cream Cheese
* Seasoned Tuna with Lemon Zest & Red Pepper
* Curried Chicken with Green Apple & Mango Chutney
* Roast Beef with Horseradish-Dijon

I decided to order off the regular menu with a main dish of Tandoori Butter Chicken with Turmeric Pilaf Rice. ($16 — includes a pot of tea of choice BTW!) Classic Indian fare in a butter chicken sauce with red peppers, served with a delicately flavoured turmeric pilaf rice and a piquant date-tamarind sauce.

Just a side note that all meats and ingredients are halal and they use omega-3 eggs for all their crepes, omelettes & quiches.

T-Buds Signature Sparkling Tea. We thought this was champagne at first, but realized it wasn’t! The staff were also kind enough to offer one to each to us, even though it should’ve only came with my Mom’s order.

REVIEW :

The selection of teas is awe-inspiring! So many to choose from! Also, the presentation of all the food was very nice. The food itself tasted great and the ingredients were very fresh. I think for the price, it can’t be beat for High Tea/Afternoon Tea. Very reasonable and great service. Perfect for a Weekend Brunch, Mother’s Day Celebration, etc.

The atmosphere is more of a cozy one. Not really fancy like some of the high-end hotels that offer something similar, but everything is clean, tidy and non-pretentious. There aren’t that many seats/tables, so I’d advise to make a reservation, especially if going on a weekend.

And don’t judge this place by their website, as it could probably use an update (in my opinion). This place is amazing, as I’ve eaten here a few times before and would definitely recommend it — and will most certainly be going back!

If you’ve eaten here before, what did you think of T-Buds?
